Transcript“Councillor Haylett reported visiting Kleintuin, the site of the proposed New Cemetery… The land belonged to Mr Van Blerk and to Mr Kerstens. Councillor Van Blerk said he was willing to sell his land at a reasonable price and would give half the purchase price towards the cost of the road.”

Transcript“The Public Works Committee reported that the proposed site for a public school at Kalk Bay had been inspected. They recommended that the ground in question be granted to the School Board reserving a road of about 30 feet east of Mr Van Blerk's property.”

Transcript“A letter was read from Mr W F Bergh complaining of the blasting in the quarries on Mr Van Blerck's property, worked by Mr Hopkins. He alleged that the blasting operations carried on endangered the life of him and his family.”

Transcript“Complaints had again been received regarding some iron closets at the side of the new road, Kalk Bay, belonging to Mrs S J van Blerk, from which an offensive smell arose. The matter was referred to the Plague Committee.”

It is suggested that these cottages should be constructed of wood and iron, and are meant to be for the accommodation of fishermen… The report was adopted, with the exception of Mr van Blerk's application, which was referred back to the Engineer for further information.”
